The Salmon Bay View Apartment
Project Type
Furnishing, Styling
Location
Seattle, Wash.
A small rental apartment perched above Salmon Bay with a view that does half the work. The brief was to meet that energy — to furnish and style a space that felt intentional without feeling precious, and chic without being permanent.
Every piece was chosen for character over commodity. A natural palette runs from tonal creams to deep ochre to jet black, layered with mixed metals, vintage textiles, and a blend of warm and cool woods. Sculptural, chunky furniture anchors the rooms while found objects, handmade studio pottery, and layered art create the kind of depth that takes most spaces years to accumulate. A free-range disco ball. High texture at every turn. The collector's eye is the design system here — each piece earning its place in a space too small to carry anything that doesn't. Modest, considered solutions nod honestly to the impermanence of rental living without apologizing for it. The result is something rare — a small space with genuine point of view.
